Tanyag Studio was founded by Vanessa Tanyag, a Filipina-American graphic designer and calligrapher born in the heart of Virginia Beach, Virginia. She is based in the vibrant city of Raleigh, North Carolina. Her work is focused on stationery, calligraphy, and branding for small businesses.

As a designer whose creativity is rooted in brand identity, with a deep love and appreciation for design and the intricacies of typography and calligraphy, I strongly believe that every special event and business should authentically tell a story— a narrative that resonates with its audience. Through meaningful conversations and personalized consultations, I delve into the nuances of each of my clients’ visions based on their stories, aspirations, and values.

For me, creating for others is not just a profession— it's a calling. There's an indescribable joy that comes from knowing that I've played a part in bringing someone's vision to life. Nothing feels greater than knowing that a project was meticulously executed and crafted by my own two hands!

Get to know the woman with the pretty handwriting —

  • It all started back in college in 2017 when I worked at a Paper Source in my hometown. What began as a simple interest in hand lettering and a set of Tombow Fudenosuke brush pens quickly blossomed into something much bigger. (But the roots of my passion go way back—I’ve always been complimented on my handwriting since I was a kid, and I’d even write notes for classmates in exchange for .50 cents for snacks during lunch! Ha!) I started designing chalkboards for my job and taught modern calligraphy classes, but it wasn’t until a bride-to-be asked me to create a chalkboard wedding sign that I realized just how much potential this hobby had. That first commission was a game-changer, and I knew I could turn this passion into something more.

    What began as a fun side hustle after my 9-5 job quickly grew into my full-time business—a journey I’m so grateful and blessed for every day.

  • Kyle is my high school sweetheart + husband, and we have been together for 12+ years! He is my biggest supporter, and my greatest blessing in life who continues to challenge me into becoming the best version of myself while chasing my aspirations + dreams. I’ll forever be your co-pilot as you live out your dreams to be a pilot.

  • She is my four-legged cat daughter, best friend, and greatest co-worker! You can find her in my BTS videos on Instagram as she LOVES sitting and watching me create all my projects!

  • → I love daydreaming about my next hiking trip and next state or country to travel to.
    → I can’t start my day without doing yoga, pilates, or some form of exercise.
    → The kitchen is my second home and I looove trying out new recipes!
    → You can catch me binge watching the latest Korean RomCom dramas on Netflix and Viki.
    → I watch my plants flourish— What can I say, I’m a dedicated plant mama!

  • I find myself switching between coffee and tea quite often. My latest obsession is my at-home café bar where you can find me pulling espresso shots, making latte art, and whisking up matcha!

  • Tiramisu — Fun Fact: When my husband and I backpacked Italy for two weeks, we tried tiramisu in every city we stopped in and had the best tiramisu in Treviso and Rome!

My lifelong dream is to live life with purpose while seeking ways to give back to the world around me with the use of my God-given talents for design and art. That dream is to help create the visions of others come to fruition which is how Tanyag Studio was born.
